Our only security is our ability to change. ~ John Lilly
Many things will happen to us in life that we will have no control over. But we do have control over how we respond to the things we can't control.
Man has an incredible gift of adapting to changes. If the weather changes we can take off or put on clothing, we even have machines to make indoor climates ideal. Even better - if the weather is hot we can have a pool party, if it snows we can build a snowman or ski! We can't control weather, but we can adapt and even enjoy the changes.
In the business world, there will be changes in the climate. Some business will fail, some will prosper, and the way you do business may become obsolete. The question to frequently ask is how are things changing and what am I doing to adapt? Not only am I adapting to the changes, but am I positioning myself to actually benefit from the changes?
Things will change - that is guaranteed. The question to ask is how and what can you do to benefit from the changes? Can you find a way to celebrate and grow with the changes? Without change there would be no butterflies. Ellen Glasgow says that 'The only difference between a rut and a grave is their dimensions."
Are you in a rut digging a grave or are you preparing to fly with the changes? It is your choice. We all have the ability to grow and learn and adapt. What are you doing to make the most out of the environment?

If you think your business computers are safe from hacking attacks because your company is too small to appeal to hackers, think again. Though the big international companies are indeed attractive to hackers, these web criminals are beginning to find small businesses lucrative targets too.
The U.S. Secret Service and Verizon Communications forensic analysis unit handled 761 data breaches in 2010, a significant increase from the 141 breaches investigated in 2009. Of the 761 attacks in 2010, 482 or 63% involved companies with 100 or fewer employees.
These statistics make it clear that being small does not mean a company is safe from hackers. A 2010 survey reported in the Wall Street Journal showed that 64% of small and medium sized retailers in the U.S. believed their businesses weren't vulnerable to credit card data theft by hackers. Only 49% had done a review of their security safeguards.

Life is full of changes, isn't it? Many times we want to put labels on the changes - say that they are good or bad - and sometimes that is the case, but most of the time when things change you get a mix of both. That is just how life is.

TEN WAYS TO INSPIRE OTHERS TO BE THEIR BEST
We all know people who are inspiring. But just how does one inspire others? Here are ten simple ways you can inspire people to be their best:
- Be a good example. People watch what you do more than they listen to what you say. Be someone worth emulating.
- Care about others. People don't care about how much you know until they know how much you care. Ask questions. Take a genuine interest in people.
- Encouragement. Everyone goes through tough times. When you support people and encourage them through these times, you'll be inspiring them to see the best in themselves and in the situation.
- Be inspired yourself. Look for people, ideas, environments and knowledge that you find inspiring and motivating.
- Share from your own experience. You have more to share than you realize. Mine the rich experiences of your life and share your wisdom from your unique point of view. You may be the only one who can touch someone with your inspiring message.
- Be vulnerable. Be willing to share your failures as well as your successes. Others will relate to you. They'll understand that they're not the only ones with challenges.
- Tell stories. Facts tell and stories sell. They inspire, too. We learn best from parables and we all need to develop our own inspiring stories.
- Be a good communicator. Increasing your ability to communicate effectively is a critical element for you to inspire others. Watch how you speak and what you say. Invest in your communication skills.
- Challenge people. Many of us have had teachers who at times seemed more like tormentors than mentors. They challenged us to do our best, and we were better for it. Practice "carefrontation"--the careful and caring confrontation of others.
- Read. It may not follow that all readers are leaders, but certainly all leaders are readers. Stay informed. Share what you read with others. Tell people about books that have inspired you. Share the knowledge.
